It’s Rhea again. Just wanted to tell you what I know. I think Penny’s mommy & daddy are a little preoccupied right now.
Yesterday’s media blitz was a huge success! We could not have done it with out you all. This site had nearly 2000 visitors just yesterday alone. We got a ton of new donations for Friday’s auction and we got the attention of two news channels. Penny’s story can be found on San Diego 6 News. We’ve also received emails from Channel 8 (KFMB) and will let you know if anything comes up from it. Penny was also mentioned on local radio station KSON.
If you watch the Channel 6 news story, you will hear that the biopsy results came in and that Penny’s particular tumor is highly treatable. This is awesome news!!!!! It responds well to treatment and the doctors give her a much higher chance of beating the cancer with this news.
However, today, Penny’s white blood counts and blood pressure are very low. This is making it hard to fight the RSV infection. She has been admitted to the NICU and received yet another blood transfusion.
One step forward…another step back.
So lets continue to pray for Penny, Aaron and Carina. Hopefully their day will improve and one of them will have a chance to come update you with “official” news.

OH MY! THANK GOD! I HOPE HE’S NOT DONE SENDING BLESSINGS BECAUSE NEWS LIKE THAT IS GREAT! I sent an e-mail to KUSI, I’m not sure if it will get as much response as FOX6 gave us, but you never know. I just wish I could get rid of this stupid upper respiratory infection I have, then maybe I can come give moral support in person. I am trying to drum up donations everywhere I go I give people the web address. I always end up with tears in my eyes, after all she IS my granddaughter! I love you!!!
I have been following your story and praying every day for your little girl. I am so happy to hear the news of her biopsy results! I will continue to pray and spread the word to others.

I saw Penny’s story on the news and it really got to me. I have a 6 month old and I can’t imagine what your family is going through. I’m sending the link to this website to all of my e-mail contacts and will add the link to my Facebook. I am appalled that insurance companies don’t step up the way they should. Praying for sweet Penelope in Colorado!-what great news about the media paying attention AND that the tumors seem to be more treatable!
My husband does beautiful leather work and has designed a quad pouch to hold four rounds of ammo. He is a police officer and makes items like them primarily for other police officers. We would like to donate a quad pouch for the auction. If you are interested please let me know. I didnt know where else to send this, it isnt really intented to be published as much as it is for you to read. I am a mommy of three with a partial paralyses from the waist down, spinal cord damage in-utero and know that it is possible to have a very full life, even with a disability. I am best friends with Mandy, and know Benny through the family. We have been thinking alot about this sweet little girl, and I would LOVE to send a package of boutique bows, burp clothes, and a tutu, for the auction! I design them as a hobby! We donated today, but I just feel like there is more we can offer! Please let me know where I can ship this package of goodies too, I know there is going to be a Mom out there more than ready to dress her little girl up in honor of helping sweet Penelope!
Everynight before we go to bed we check the site to keep up with whats going on. We would love to call you, hear your voices, see you (HUG, HUG,HUG, YOU) yet we also realize that now is not the time. I hope that someday soon, when things get better (I have faith….they will) I hope you will let us know so we can visit.
Until then we will spread the message about Penelope, we will think of you often, we will count our blessings, hold each other a little closer…..and we will PRAY.

Hi Carina and Aaron and Penny! When Rhea told me about your sweet baby girl i wanted to do something along with my prayers from my family. Girlybaby has sent you and your sweet daughter a care package of Girlybaby Crochet Headbands and a Girlybaby Crochet Hat:) I hope Penny feels like a Princess wearing it around the hospital and brightens her day! I don’t know the family personally, but I chanced upon their twitter page. My son’s been hospitalized a number of times and has had 2 neurosurgeries to remove a benign tumor, so when I heard about Penny I simply had to come out in support. I emailed AJ from AJ in the mornings, and am following the daily news. I believe very positively in the power of healing thoughts and love, so am sending many your way.
