Benefit show at O’Connells in San Diego Next Week!

By Aaron · Comments (1)

Hi All,

Next Wednesday the 19th we’re having a benefit show for Penelope at O’Connell’s on Morena Blvd in San Diego.  The show will start early, at 6pm – so that we can accommodate people that have to work the next day.   There’s no cover charge for the show, but we will be accepting donations.  In addition, we’re going to have a raffle for $2 a ticket and have some cool things to raffle off including Gift Certificates for cakes from Claim Jumper and even some Chargers Gear.

The shows going to be broadcast live on AIIRADIO.NET and hosted by KAOS Tom.  It’ll be a great show and we hope you can all come out.  I will be in attendance for sure, but I’m not sure if Carina will make – we’re still trying to figure out when her next chemo cycle will start, so once we find out for sure I’ll post a quick update once we know.

Thanks!

Aaron

Visit the Queen Bee Market this Saturday!

By admin · Comments (2)

Are you in San Diego? Do you LOVE handmade goodies? Do you have a giant amount of change laying around your house?

Of course you do!

Then head out to the Queen Bee Market this Saturday, May 1st from 10am to 6pm.

What is the Queen Bee Market, you ask?

The Queen Bee Market- a hip, modern, and fresh handmade art and gift show in the San Diego area. Held on Saturday, May 1st, perfectly timed for the week before Mother’s Day and beautiful San Diego weather (but really, when isn’t it beautiful weather in San Diego?). Unlike any other craft fair or boutique, Queen Bee will feature vendors from all over the handmade scene. With purses, jewelry, home decor, children’s items, accessories, baby products and more- you won’t want to miss out. There’s sure to be something for everyone. In addition to unique product, we’ll also be focusing our attention on giving back to the San Diego area.

Pennies4Penny.org is one of the local San Diego charities that will be benefiting from this years market. They will have collection jars set up around the market where you can quite literally leave your Pennies for Penny.

So head on out and spend a beautiful day in Carlsbad, CA. Take your change jars for Penny and find some handmade goodies for yourself!

Community Support Night – Today – Carlsbad Claim Jumper

By Aaron · Comments (1)

Hi All,

Just a quick reminder that all day today at the Claim Jumper in Carlsbad is ‘Community Support Night’.  Just bring in the attached flier and 15% of the bill will go to Pennies4Penny.  We are back in the hospital for round 3 of chemotherapy, so Carina and Penelope won’t be there.  But, I’m going to stop by for a little bit around 5pm or so today.  Have a great day and we’ll update everyone on our chemo visit soon.

Best

Aaron

Benefit show in Carlsbad on the 22nd.

By Aaron · Comments (2)

Hey all – I’ve got to say that Penelope is really lucky to have an Uncle like her Uncle Jefe (pronounced Hefay).  He not only set up the benefit show last Friday, but also set up another benefit show for next Thursday, the 22nd, at the Boars Cross’n in Carlsbad.  Great bands, a good time and a great cause.  So get a babysitter,  – or get the night off, – or get a ride, – get whatever you need – just get there on Thursday!  :)

Best

Campaign to Get Penelope Noticed by Ellen!

By admin · Comments (15)

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love Ellen DeGeneres.  She is funny and also very generous and caring.  It is this reason we want to get Penny noticed by the show producers, and we can’t do it without your help!

Please help us get Penny on the Ellen Show by filling out the “Be Part of the Show” form.  But we need everyone to fill out the same form.  We are hoping by having lots and lots of people submitting Penny’s story than the show producers won’t have any choice but to notice!

So visit Ellen’s “Be Part of the Show” page.

Specifically, we want her story submitted on the “Are You or Someone You Know Having a Tough Time” form (not sure if this link will always work…if it’s not there, go to the main “Part of the Show” page and scroll down to find it).

Explain about Penny and her mounting medial bills.  Her parents are drowning in them and she hasn’t even left the hospital!  Ellen asks for pictures, feel free to use any from this site, or if you have your own, even better!  If you personally know the Buttress family and little Penelope then please personalize it.

You all rocked the auction, now let’s get her on TV!

Auction Results

By admin · Comments (3)

Thank you to everyone that came out and supported our very fun auction!  It was a huge success.

Over 50 items were up for bid.  I didn’t even get all of the items listed, people were so generous.  So we will do something else in the future (another auction, raffle, something fun).  Everything sold.  Many items went for above the retail value, while other winning bidders got great deals on items that went for less.

The grand total of money raised for Penny was $4300.00! This will be an amazing help towards the mounting hospital bills and I’m sure Children’s Hospital thanks you, too. :)

The auction posts kind of take up the blog site for the moment, so if you want to just catch up on past mom & dad’s posts, click on “Family Updates” in the top navigation menu.

We have also received several very cool sports memorabilia items to auction.  We will be listing these items on Ebay soon and will let you know when those are available.  Items include a Joe Montana autographed football helmet and a John Wooden UCLA autographed basketball.  There are also several rookie Topp’s cards including Wayne Gretzky and Tony Gwinn.  So check back for details on that.

This morning, sweet Penelope is still hooked up to life support.  They have tried to wean her off the ventilators a few times but she is unable to maintain healthy oxygen levels.  I’m sure Aaron or Carina will be online soon to give you a rundown of the weekends events, but please continue to pray for Penny.  Her first birthday is approaching and they we are hoping and praying hard that she will get to be home for her special day.

Thanks again for everyone’s support.  We could not have done this without all your support and donations!  THANK YOU!

~Rhea
